2010 Holiday Reading Challenge

It's that time of year again! And this year, I've decided to start a little earlier than last. Starting November 15, 2010 (it's a Monday!) the Holiday Reading Challenge will commence.   That's right!  I'm starting earlier this year in order for you guys to have more chances at winning at the end of every week.  I'm still considering what the winners will get.  I'm thinking it doesn't all have to be about books (well, it does!), but I'm also thinking Christmas book marks, tote bags, mugs with hot chocolate, tea, etc.  What do you think?  Of course, I'll have to throw in books as well.

Challenge Requirements:

1- Challenge will start Monday, November 15 and will end Friday, December 31.

2- You can read anywhere from 1 to 5 books for the challenge and, of course, if you're like me, you are more than welcome to surpass that number.

3- And now, here's the clincher... they must be holiday related books. That's right, the holiday doesn't really matter, but it would be more "jolly" if your choices were Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, etc.

4- The size of the book does not matter, nor does the genre. It is also okay for the book to overlap with other challenges. The only thing I ask is that they are not children's books. YA is okay. And so are re-reads. I for one tend to read the same books every Christmas - they are tradition.

5- To sign up - leave a link back to your challenge post. There will also be a post for review links as well as one for challenge wrap-ups.

6- And.... there will be goodies. That's right, we'll call them presents. At the end of every week that the challenge is running I will choose one winner from the review links.  Meaning the more books you read, review and link up, the more chances you have at winning a "present".

If you'd like to sign up for the 2010 Holiday Reading Challenge, please link up your challenge post with the list of books you plan to read (this list is not set in stone and can be changed as you please):

Click here to enter your link for the
2010 Holiday Reading Challenge!

Come back on November 15 for links to review posting and wrap-ups.

This challenge looks really fun! It'd be my first challenge, though- exciting!

Can you use books other than YA like biography's or Chicken Soup for the Soul books?

    Thanks! :)

    ReplyDelete
  4. @Morgan - Yes! You are a-ok to do anthology's, memoirs, biography's, etc. as long as they are holiday related.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I totally agree with Danny!

  6. Great idea!

I've started my holiday reads already :)

  12. I love the button. I have several Christmas books I want to read this year. This is the perfect reading challenge for them. :)

    ReplyDelete
  13. Excellent! I like to read quite a few holiday related books over the next two months. Mine will be mostly mysteries and paranormal...

    ReplyDelete
  14. I'll be in as soon as I can come up with a list of potential books. Or on Nov. 15, whichever comes first. =)

    ReplyDelete
  15. I've been looking for this challenge to begin! Thanks for hosting it. I love Christmas and the holidays and it was no trouble at all coming up with a list. The members of our book club are reading a Christmas selection this month. We'll each read a different book and have a book talk about them December 1st.

    Thanks again and Happy Holidays!

  22. hoping to join in on the challenge. I'm 9 months preggers and having my little boy via c section on Nov 16th if not before. Things will be crazy with having a new baby around, so want to try and read at least one holiday book.

    ReplyDelete
  23. @Boo Bear's Place - a new baby!! how exciting. I hope you can play along but you are definitely excused if you can't =D

    ReplyDelete
  24. I love the button. Thanks for the challenge.

    ReplyDelete
  25. @Morgan - yes, feel free to read all the middle grade books you'd like for the challenge. My main concern is that people aren't reviewing picture books, because those are much quicker and easier to read/review then the rest of us who reading 100+ pages of each book.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I saw your challenge mentioned on Mary's (Bookfan) site and knew it was one for me. Can I ask one thing though - can we read a mix of holiday materials or do we have to pick just the one (say Christmas)?

    ReplyDelete
  27. @Petty Witter -You can read anything your little hear desires as long as a holiday is involved. Which holiday is up to you. I chose Christmas but that is just my personal choice. It can be Valentine's, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Easter, etc. :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. I have seen some really good Christmas books out there and I'm in for the Challenge!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Sounds like fun so I am signing up! Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yay, thanks for organizing such a great reading challenge! I LOVE Christmas and reading challenges, so I'm very excited to combine the 2! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  31. I don't know what to read yet. I'll have to come back to this!!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Yay!

I was just putting together a holiday reading list!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I don't know what I am going to read, but I hope to go to the library and see if I can find a few in stock.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Got my list; you can find it here.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Sounds fun! Count me in : )
