On this week's Bookcase of the Week it is with great pleasure that I bring you Vanessa of Today's Adventure's bookcase. I've been following Vanessa for a long time now and I love her reading tastes (which are very similar to mine *wink*). I asked her to participate in the Bookcase of the Week feature and here's what she had to say:
Hey everyone! My name is Vanessa (though I blog and comment with the handle NotNessie). I'm turning 30 later this year, I'm married to a fantastic guy, and I'm the stay-at-home mom of three kids I am ridiculously smitten with. When I have down time, one of my favorite things to do is read. I started my book blog, Today's Adventure, almost two years ago as an outlet to gush about the books I love because my friends were getting tired of tuning me out. I read a wide variety, but my favorite genres these days are urban fantasy and dystopian lit, especially YA. I would love for any of you to stop by for a visit and chat, or to enter my current giveaway.
Nely has asked me to share with you a bit about my bookshelf, which is a little tricky, because I don't actually have one. My daughter used my last shelf for climbing practice and it didn't survive. But I will show you where my books live.
I do a lot of reading in bed, so I keep my immediate to-read pile on my bedside table. I try to read books in the order I get them, but I'm a total mood reader, so I keep a variety on hand.
This is where the bulk of my books are stored. This is also where my shoes are stored. This is wrong, I know. The one good thing about having such a limited storage space for books is that I have to be very picky about what I keep. I only keep what I love so much I know I will reread it or lend it out to friends. My husband is a lot happier this way, and the books and shoes have struck up a strange but fulfilling friendship.
This is my second-favorite reading spot. I am one of those people who is incapable of sitting properly (sorry, Grandma!) and so a wide, comfy couch is perfect for all kinds of sprawls. Add some good lighting and a table for my cup of tea, and it's got everything I need.
That's all, folks! Thanks for sticking with me for the tour. And thank you very much for having me, Nely!
Vanessa, thank you so much for playing along. I loved the glimpse into your home and I especially loved hearing and seeing that your books and shoes get along so nicely. :) Although your book shelf space is limited, I see that you are making the most of it. I should do the same, since my books/cases have taken over most of my bedroom. C'est la vie.
For those of you who haven't passed on through to Vanessa's yet, please visit her here (tell her I say HI!)
That was so cute. I adore Vanessa!
ReplyDeleteI am SO bad and sitting correctly too.
And I LOVED this line "The books and shoes have struck up a strange but fulfilling friendship" :D
I love the shoes and the bookshelf. They are two of my favorite things so it makes sense to me to put them together.
ReplyDeleteI stink at sitting correctly too (gotta work on that).
ReplyDeleteI love your shoe/book-shelf. I have three big bookshelves, but I'm running out of room and have to be more picky these days! Probably a good thing!
I wish I had enough bookcases to take over my bedroom! Thanks so much for having me, Nely, it's been fun.
ReplyDeleteJuju, Kate- Bad sitters unite!
Lisa- LOL!
Kate- Cutting down on the book expansion is tough! Good luck!
I'm definitely not one for sitting properly either. What can I say? Hehe. And the bookcase...well, mine's not much better it's taken over the entire top of my dresser now, it's insane! ;o)
ReplyDeleteLove love love Vanessa! And your kiddos are absolutely the cutest! Fantastic feature, I just love getting to know the bloggers we read every day!
Great as always!
ReplyDeleteNely, have you seen this? I normally don't like to post links on comments, but this made me think of you:
