Although I personally would never to do anything like this to a book... I just can't... books are sacred to me. I could totally see myself buying one. I figure the damage is already done and I just heart bookish things. I even found a tutorial on how to make these... sweet.
Anthropologie's window display.
Then there are these works of art by Michael Bom. You can find more here.
Who knew folded books were so in, right? I absolutely heart them.

it would not bother me to use magazines or catalogs but not books! telephone books would be cool too!
WOW, it looks pretty, but i would never use a book for that. :)
I like the light!
When I was a kid we would take old Readers Digests and fold them to look like a Christmas tree. We'd spray paint them green and decorate. I'm laughing as I type this because the image that comes to mind is pretty funny.
I definitely agree, I wouldn't be able to do this to a book. It would cause me too much pain. But if I saw them at a store I would have to buy them all, otherwise it would be like the books were wasted for nothing.
These are amazing!
Man these look awesome! But they also sort of make me sad - the poor books!
I would so use one as a lamp
Wow! The ones you've displayed look like art, as you said.
But it feels painful to me to see books folded and bent and USED in this way. It doesn't feel loving to me!
For example, a friend was reading a book I'd sold to her—so it was hers to do with as she desired!—but I observed it after she'd finished reading it, and it was like twisted and folded and almost crushed! It felt like a personal affront, since I had created the book. LOL.
Now THAT'S a little crazy, right??
I'm with you...I couldn't make it but I love looking at them. So pretty!
You're right, I wouldn't do this to books either!
I would try it with magazines, newspapers and maybe some comics too though.
It's such a cool, creative idea :) Thanks for sharing this!
Aww, I wouldn't want to do this to a book either :( But people have great suggestions by using magazines and newspapers! I like Mary's Reader's Digest suggestion, it's a great size for this!
I agree, I could never do that to a book! They look fantastic. Maybe, put them in a home library.
Ooh, pretty! Maybe you could do it to a book that's in bad shape, with water damage or that's otherwise unreadable- then it would be acceptable, I think!
I'm in love with that lamp. It would be absolutely wonderful to have, as long as it's not my books.
I'm going to buy a book from the next library resale and see if I can use the tutorial to make them for myself, they look so awesome!
