On this week's Bookcase of the Week it is with great pleasure that I bring you Melissa of I Swim for Oceans' shelves. I originally came across Melissa and her blog... well, I must confess, I was curious about her. See every time I would comment on a blog post I would notice that she also would comment on the same blogs (usually before me - if you haven't noticed I slack some on my commenting). Anyway, after a few days and many comments on the same blogs, I figured I must see who Melissa was - especially since we both seem to have the same reading tastes (in blogs at least). Well, aren't I glad I was curious, not only did I get to Melissa's blog but we definitely read a lot of the same books. I, of course, then had to ask her to participate in the Bookcase of the Week. And hooray, since as you can see, she agreed. Here's what she sent us:
Here is the current layout of my bookshelves. I have more books, but I just moved, and I'm having new shelves built! I love this layout so far though because the room is really warm and comfortable, and the red makes my books look sexy...is it weird to call my books sexy? haha
This second picture is the same thing, just a different angle from sitting on one of my super comfortable couches. My room looks a lot more posh than it actually is. The wine is just there because it gives my reading room a more mature feel...next to all my YA books ;)
This is my beautiful Bengal baby, Stella! She's my favourite reading buddy because she just lies on my chest while I'm reading, much like a little personal space heater. I have another kitty, Jasper, but he's not such a cuddle-bug, and my puppy hasn't calmed down enough for that.
Melissa, I love, love, love your shelves. I am loving the layout of your reading area, it has a very cozy and warm look to it. I agree your books do look sexy against the red wall. And that Bengal baby of yours is just gorgeous. Thank you so much for sharing with us.
For those of you who haven't passed on through to Melissa's yet, please visit her here (tell her I say HI!)

Eep! Thanks so so so much for featuring me! My shelves look a lot better on your blog than they do in person ;)
How cute! I totally agree about the red too...hmmm...now I am going to have to paint...again...lol!
I heart Melissa and loved her shelves. It looks so pretty decorated.
P.S. I'm loving the red paint. It really stands out. I may need to repaint my library room.
Aww, I love Melissa, what a great blogger!!! That red looks pretty awesome and her room really cozy. Do you think she would let me come over and read?
Pretty bookshelves! I just love Melissa, she is one of my favorite bloggers.
That wall color + the awesome bookshelf = stunning! And Melissa's kitty is too darn cute :)
Aww. The shelves look amazing - much, much tidier than mine! And I now want a kitty reading buddy - this isn't good, the other half's allergic, I've had to settle for a big cuddly polar bear (though he is VERY cuddly).
Thanks for the feature too, another great blog for the folder :)
OMG I am in love with your blog!
This is such a cool meme! I will be checking you out all the time!
xo,

I love Melissa and her blog! Definitely one of my favorites :D
Her bookshelves are very cool. Such a nice room. And such a pretty cat!
I always admire Melissa's shelves in her IMM vlogs. They look so pretty and organized. The red paint sets off the books nicely. Thanks for sharing Melissa and thanks for hosting N!
Melissa is one smart cookie. Look at how easy she makes it to grab a bottle of win and a book and get lost in the wonderful world of fiction.
Love this room!
Melissa, I love your blog and LOVE your bookshelves! Thanks for sharing! :)
I love how cozy that reading area looks. And that kitty is just beautiful! :)
Love the bookshelves, that's such a creative way of displaying your lovely books. Stella is adorable!
Awesome book area. It really makes me want to fix my room and books. Oh wait...I need to get bookcases built...hmmm
I loved the pictures!!!
Adore the shelf across the wall!
Cool! I love how the shelves wrap around the corner of the room. That's a great shelving idea. Might try that one of these days....
