Awards (x2)

I received the Beautiful Blogger Award from Ryan G. at Wordsmithonia. Now the rule for this one is to pass it on to 7 other bloggers and tell everyone 7 things about yourself.

1 Juju - Tales of Whimsy
2 Liz - Cleverly Inked
3 Sarah - GreenBeanTeenQueen
4 miss cindy - simple life and reading...
5 Michelle - Michelle's Bookshelf
6 Mary - Bookfan
7 Amy J - My Overstuffed Bookshelf

Now for 7 random things about myself:
1- I am an obsessive compulsive type person - when I buy something I like, I'll buy 5 or 6 of the same thing.
2- I have enough books in my TBR pile to read one a day for a whole year, and still have a couple of extras.
3- I don't eat any fruits or vegetables. Yes, I take a lot of vitamins.
4- My dinner (most nights) is milk and cereal.
5- I love Country music. I know, it's not very Latina of me, but I don't care. For those of you who don't know, my parents are Cuban (although I was born and raised here in Miami).
6- I get most of my reading done at night - once everyone passes out, I bring out the book. :D
7- I recently discovered the library - I now live there. The librarians know my name - yes, I LOVE THE LIBRARY!

The Over the Top award came from miss cindy at simple life and reading...

Wednesday

Awards, Awards and More Awards!

I am honestly flattered and a little ashamed that it has taken me this long to thank you all and, of course, pass the buck. Over the past couple of weeks I've received several awards that I would like to now take the time to acknowledge and thank you each and every one of you for thinking of me.

One Lovely Blog Award

(iisn't that just lovely) Many thanks to Vanessa at Today's Adventure; Girl that Reads at Ashley's Library; Kathrin at Secret Dreamworld of a Bookaholic, Sheri at A Novel Menagerie and Serena at Savvy Verse & Wit.

The 2009 Friendly Blogger Award

This one comes from Melissa over at Melissa's Bookshelf. This award is so hip don't ya think.

The Splash Award
Melissa over at Melissa's Bookshelf also splashed this one at me as well.

The You Don't Say Award

This award is from Sheri at A Novel Menagerie. She nominated me for being one of her top commentators... that's easy enough of course. Her blog is so addicting that I can't help but to read and comment on her everyday. So if you haven't been by take the time to check her blog out she has great reading tastes (very similar to mine) :D

Once again, I want to thank all of you guys for thinking of me. It's always my pleasure to drop by and comment on your posts, read all you wonderful reviews and join all those funtastic giveaways. Aren't all my awards so pretty? I know. Carry on.

Awards

I've recently received the following awards - it's just taken me a while to post about them:

The Lovely Award was given to me by Natasha from Ulat Buku in the City. As always I am so grateful for awards - it's so nice to receive them.
And then there is the Zombie Chicken Award given by Beth at Beth Fish Reads. I love anything Zombie so this was quite a treat for me. :D

"The blogger who receives this award believes in the Tao of the zombie chicken - excellence, grace and persistence in all situations, even in the midst of a zombie apocalypse. These amazing bloggers regularly produce content so remarkable that their readers would brave a raving pack of zombie chickens just to be able to read their inspiring words. As a recipient of this world-renowned award, you now have the task of passing it on to at least 5 other worthy bloggers. Do not risk the wrath of the zombie chickens by choosing unwisely or not choosing at all..."

Terrified of the zombified chickens - so here goes:
1 Sheri at A Novel Menagerie (I'm constantly there - she has some great reviews up all the time and we mostly read the same books.)
2 Lenore at Presenting Lenore (I recently found Lenore's site and I can tell already that I will be one of her stalkers.)
3 Nymeth at Things Mean A Lot (Nymeth's reviews are a danger to my TBR pile - everytime I read one of her reviews my pile gets bigger - or I order the book right away.)
4 Dar at Peeking Between the Pages (Dar is awesome - she always has great reviews, giveaways, and she has a lot of the same reading tastes as I do.)
5 Michele at A Reader's Respite (because without Michele none of us would be able to diversify our bookshelves - not to mention she is hilarious.)

So enjoy your award ladies - you definitely deserve it and beware of those pesky zombie chickens.

Saturday

Awards

I recently received the Premios Dardos Award from my friend BethF over at Beth Fisth Reads.

This award acknowledges the values that every blogger shows in his or her effort to transmit cultural, ethical, literary, and personal values every day.

I've noticed that most of the blogs that I'm a big fan of have already been awarded but I still want to say that I enjoy reading each and every single one of your blogs and am constantly stalking your sites for more reviews and recommendations. Thanks for keeping my workday entertained and also making getting fired a possibility. =D

I also received the Butterfly Award from Ms. Ulat Buku over at Ulat Buku in the City. Thanks so much for my award. It makes me happy to receive them and thanks for dropping by every once in a while to comment.

So here are my nominees for both awards. I'm sure most of you have already received these awards but I just wanted to give you a shout out anyway and know that I appreciate reading your spectacular blogs.

Monday

Great Buddy Award

Well, it seems that Veens from Give Reading A Chance has nominated me as one of her blogging buddies. Thank you Veens for my award! I try hard to be a good little buddy - flittering from blog to blog, leaving my little witty comments, etc.

I am always so grateful that somebody drops by here and leaves a comment or two. Plus I've made some very nice buddies myself. Although I've made a buddy or two on here, it seems that they have all been awarded as buddies already. So if YOU are dropping by here for a quick peek, then consider yourself MY BUDDY! Thanks for dropping by and don't be shy in leaving a comment. :)

Thursday

I've Been Nominated!

Beth from Beth Fish Reads has nominated my little blog here for the Kreativ Blogger Award. This award deals with values we deem important in others. Beth nominated me as her Fellow Challenge Junkie... Thanks Beth, yes, I am a challenge addict and proud of it! I have signed up for about 19 challenges next year and where the time will come from for me to read all those books is still something unknown to me. But I shall perservere and do my best to complete them all! So now it is up to me to decide on six values that are important to me, six things I don’t support, and nominate six bloggers.

Six values/qualities in others that are important to me
Honesty
Sense of humor
Creativity
Friendliness
Kindness
Curiosity

Six values/qualities in others that I find hard to tolerate
Dishonesty
Meanness
Cruelty
Selfishness
Arrogance
Complaining

6 friends/bloggers to award:
I will not be nominating anyone at this time only because the blogs that I would nominate have already been nominated. I will say though, that I have met some wonderful people who I can't help but stop by their blogs every day and read what they have to say. Just reading their thoughts on a book is something that I look forward to every day. I guess this is why I'm so backed up with work and why TBR stack has grown in leaps and bounds. :D

Friday

Bookworm Award!

BethF over at Beth Fish Reads tagged me for this Bookworm Award. I feel so honored and I'm excited of course, since this is my first Award of any type since I started blogging. I'm fairly new to blogging and it was quite thrilling when I suddenly stumbled upon this whole book blogging community that I didn't know existed. People.Just.Like.Me!!! So I won't be able to tag anyone back since I don't really know many people on here yet but I will glady accept this award.

Here’s how it goes:
- Open the closest book to you, not your favorite or most intellectual book, but the book closest to you at the moment, to page 56.
- Write out the fifth sentence, as well as two to five sentences following there.
The book nearest me at the moment is The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman. It's in my purse - since I never leave home without a book :)

"You can't touch us," said Bod. All you can do is scare?
The twining voices sounded petulant. FEAR IS A WEAPON OF THE SLEER.
Bod looked down at the ledge. "Are those the treasures of your master? An old brooch, a cup, and a little stone knife? They don't look like much."
