Booking Through Thursday

This week’s question is suggested by Kat: (to view everyone else's responses click on Booking Through Thursday).

I recently got new bookshelves for my room, and I’m just loving them. Spent the afternoon putting up my books and sharing it on my blog . One of my friends asked a question and I thought it would be a great BTT question. So from Tina & myself, we’d like to know “How do you arrange your books on your shelves? Is it by author, by genre, or you just put it where it falls on?”

There is no science to my bookshelves. The only thing I try to do is keep the same authors books together. Other than that, I try to make it as eclectic looking as my reading tastes are. I try to make sure that no two books look alike (at least that are next to eachother) meaning if one book has a black spine, the one next to it has a red spine. I like them to look distinguished and appear all randomly placed. I think it looks neat and messy. Does that make sense? So I guess, I somewhat fall under the category of I put them where they fall... sorta.

No science to my bookshelves either. I just keep piling them on there. lol. Check out the pics I posted of mine today.

That's such a unique way of 'sort of' putting your books together. Your answer is one of my favourites in BTT today. I'm very organized (alphabetical by author) but I totally love the look of randomness it has. They're all lumped together (fiction, nonfiction, poetry, hardcover with dustjackets, hc without jackets, paperbacks), all in different sizes and colours. They look balanced but random, which is a look I love, too, like you. But deep inside I know they're perfectly organized. Lol. :)

Nely, you may have already seen this color spectrum version of shelving -- it's wild: http://www.flickr.com/photos/santos/1704875109/in/pool-96822943@N00
